Dr. Marianna La Rocca graduated cum laude in Physics in 2014 and is currently PhD student in Applied Physics at the Interuniversity Department of Physics “M. Merlin” within a collaboration between Bari University “A. Moro” and the National Institute of Nuclear Physics – Branch of Bari. She is working on research concerning the morphometric and statistical analysis of magnetic resonance images for the early diagnosis and characterization of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer and Parkinson by combining the use of complex networks and artificial intelligence strategies. She has devoted great effort to image processing, data mining, big data and machine learning techniques for pattern recognition, development of models for studying brain connectivity and its pathological changes and quantitative methods for diagnosis support. Her research has been featured at several international conferences and has contributed to the writing of scientific articles which have aroused great interest among the national and international press.
